流星塵-彗星塵、小惑星塵の進化論的解明;熱的進化・風化作用の解明

Research Abstract

2006年12月から2008年5月まで、ハワイ大学のInstitute for Astronomy(IfA)に滞在した。ハワイ大学の所有する口径2.2メートルの大型光学望遠鏡を使用して、過去に彗星活動のあったと考えられる近地球型小惑星3200番フェートン(ふたご座流星群の母天体)と軌道力学進化的に関連し分裂破片の可能性のある小惑星2005UD、そして小惑星1999YCについて、多色測光(カラー観測)、ライトカーブ、自転周期、サイズを導出してきた。
1999YCと2005UDの表面的特長とフェートンのそれと比較した結果、始原的な部類であるC,Bタイプであることが明らかにされた。1999YCもフェートンからの分裂破片である可能性がある。ライトカーブ観測からは、歪な形状であることが明らかにされた。得られた結果から、フェートンの分裂・枯渇化の可能性について追及した。流星研究から推測されているフェートンの表面と内部との熱的進化の違いについての知見も加え(Kasuga et al.2007)、総合的に枯渇彗星の進化について議論した。結果、フェートンの母天体は内部に氷を含んだ比較的サイズの大きい小惑星であった可能性を提案することができた。
