Research Abstract |
Objective : To clarify the characteristics of in-patient and out-patient medical care from the point of the Basic Medical Care Region, which will contribute the medical care planning in a future in each Region, by analyzing the data of medical care offered under the National Health Insurance schemes in all municipalities in Osaka. Subjects : Data on in-patient and out-patient medical care offered in May, 1995, (74,486 and 1,860,062 claims, respectively) were obtained from all 44 cities, towns, and villages in Osaka. Items surveyed for each patient were the place and owner of medical institution used, days and points for in-patient or out-patient in the month surveyed, and total in-patient days from admission day. Results : (1) Proportion of number of patients by age group : Proportion of number of patients aged 65 or more was higher in Toyono (63.2%) and Mishima (62.4%) Regions. (2) Admission rate (per 100 insured persons) : Admission rate of patients aged 75 or more was highest (11.6) in Senshu R.and lowest (9.1) in Toyono R.(3) Admission rate (per 1000 insured persons) of long-stay (more than 180 days or more) patients aged 75 or more was highest (54.5) in Senshu R.and lowest (29.4) in Toyono R.(4) Proportion of in-patient days : Proportion of in-patient days of patients aged 65 or more was higher in Toyono (66.1%) and Osaka-city southern Area (66.0%) Rs. (5) Proportion of medical are insurance points : Proportion of medical care points of patients aged 65 or more was higher (more than 65%) in Mishima, Toyono, and Kawachi southern Area Regions.
