In this study, we made the linkage between 2D and 3D space data and text data of Kyoto city by 3D Space Simulation System, and consider about the ability to apply these to architecture and city design. In details, we examine 1) the problems of constructing the visual and interactive database from existing data by the simulation system with GIS (Geographic Information System), 2) the ability to use this database in architecture and city design, especially the ability to analyze the townscape and architecture design.
We found the results as followings ;
1) The construction of the database ; we applied SIS (produced by Informatix Co.) in order to consider about GIS,and used the digital map (published by the Geographical Survey Institute) as geographic data. As the results, we found that we can enough construct the linkage system between text, picture and drawing data, but that there are room of developing in 3D data.
2) The use of CG database in architecture and city design ; we tried to apply the way to analyze the townscape and architecture design in Ayano-koji street in the center of Kyoto, and consider about the way to use and the problems of application of CG database into architecture and city design. As the results, we found that CG database is helpful to grasp color, facade, skylines and so on, totally to analyze the townscape, but that it is necessary to program for the purpose of composing the perspective picture of streets and buildings, and evaluate these.
Therefore, we think that, in the future, it is necessary to develop the technique of the linkage, but it is possible to apply it into architecture and city design.
