Research Abstract |
All structures located on load are supported on supported on foundation systems at or below the ground surface. The subjects of bearing capacity and foundations, earth pressure and retaining walls are perhaps the important of all subjects in geotechnical engineering. A professor have given good training in foundations and bearing capacity, earth pressure and retaining wall, consequently. The paper describes a method of and a apparatus for experimantal measuring the bearing capacity and the earth pressure for providing a theoretical for the design of the foundations and the retaining walls. In place of soil, a large number of aluminum rods having circular cross-section of different kinds, exhibiting mechanical properties similar to those of soil, are used in layrs. We believe that this experimennts will promote a better understnading on the part of students of basic concepts in foundations and bearing capacity, retaining walls and earth pressure, separately.
