Research Abstract |
It is clinically important to give medical treatment for circulatory diseases such as arterial sclerosis and thrombosis. For this purpose, micro mechanisms which are based on micro actuator controlled by micro CPU have been proposed. However, it may be difficult to apply these mechanisms in living tissues, because there are many problems to be solved in these mechanisms. For example, safety to the living tissues and reliability are not clear. In our research which is supported by the grant-in-aid, micro mechanisms which are based on the use of ultrasonic waves and micro particles are proposed and are studied. For example, when the micro particles are suspended in the ultrasonic standing waves and the standing waves shift laterally by shanging the phase of an ultrasonic wave, the micro particles move in the same lateral direction. This may become a micro scraper in the living tissues. The drag delivery system may be also designed in the same manner if the micro particles are trapped by the ultrasonic standing wave. In order to design such micro mechanisms including micro pump, micro scraper and micro particle trapping system, the basic experiments are carried out by using mimic vessels and characteristics of theses methods are presented.
