Research Abstract |
1.Yellowtail Seriola quinqueradiata were fed on extruder diets (EP) for 2 month and unjected bacteria (JB) whose infection is thought to one of the cause of jaudice. The injection induced to hemolysis. Hemolysis occurred bring about in vivo lipid peroxidation and alpha-tocopherol (alpha-Toc) and ascorbic acid (ASA) were consumed to prevent in vivo lipid peroxidation. 2.Yellowtail were fed on EP containing different POV,alpha-Toc and ASA levels of sardine oil for 2 months and the phenyl hydorazine and JB.2-Thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) values and phospholipids hydroperoxides (PH) contents of fish fed on diet containing high levels of alpha-Toc and ASA were much lower than those of fish fed on EP containing low level of alpha-Toc and ASA.Plasma bilirubin level of fish fed on diet containing high level of alpha-Toc and ASA were much lower than those of fish fed on diet containing low of alpha-Toc and ASA. 3.Simultaneous determination of ascorbic acid (AA) and dehydroascorb

ic acid (DHA) in fish tissues has been developed by high performance liquid chromatography with postcolumn derivatization method. AA and DHA extracted were separated by a Shim-pack SCR-101H column within 20 min, reacted with sodium hydroxide containing sodium borohydride and monitored at 300nm. The detection limits for both AA and DHA were 0.1 mug/ml. 4.Yellowtail were fed on EP containing high level of L-Ascorby1-2-phosphate Mg (APM) and ASA for 2 months (group H) or low level of APM and ASA (group L). The plasma and liver TBARS value and PH contents were lower in group H than in group L.Liver ASA contents in group H was higher than those in group L but plasma ASA levels were similar to both qroups When JB was injected to the fish plasma bilirubin levels, plasma bilirubin levels were similar to both groups. These results suggest that plasma ASA level was not enough to prevent jaundice of group H. 5.Coho salmon was injected with erythrocytic inclusion body syndrome (EIBS) virus. Plasma bilirubin levels were slightly increased. Judging from the liver TBARS values and fatty acid composition of erythrocytes membrane, in vivo lipid peroxidation was occurred in the fish. Less
