Research Abstract |
This study presents the perceptive structure of the ambiguity of townscapes systematically. The evaluation of the view of physical elements and wholescapes from a poin, at railway station's surrowndings on TOKYO commuter railways and sidewalks in NAGANO city, were abstracted by SD method with the adjective pair of "favolable-unfavolable". First, physical elements, which improve the wholescape's favorability, were studied. And the diversity of the relations between physical elements and wholescapes were evidenced. Second, physical elements improve the wholescape's favorability, were abstracted. They are Left side green, building, and illegally parked bicycle. Next, the causes of element's evaluation were studied. And physical elements were classified. One class was the element which improve wholescape's favorability by it's perceptive area, another was by it's "noticeability". Following are the class and samples of elements. 1. by it's perceptive area : signboard, illegally parked bicycle 2. by it's "noticeabilitty" : right side green, left side green, signboard, illegally parked bicycle These knowledges will be useful for the design, specially for to give priority to. The element's "noticeability" was caused by it's "meaning", probably. But, to see "meaning", more study will be required.
