Research Abstract

本研究では、湖底堆積物中ウラン(U)・トリウム(Th)同位体組成変化に着目し、これら同位体の古環境復元プロキシとしての確立を目的としている。昨年度の、バイカルリフトゾーンに位置する淡水湖・フブスグル湖(モンゴル)の湖底堆積物としては世界最長のHDP04(全長80m)コア解析に引き続き、今年度は、堆積速度が早<時間分解能がよいと推測されたBB03(全長1233cm)を用いて^<14>C年代測定、U・Th同位体(^<238>U,^<234>U,^<230>Th,^<232>Th)濃度および放射能比、全岩粒径、主要元素濃度を測定し、気候・環境変動にからむU(Th)の沈降・堆積挙動についてより詳細な解明を試みた。BB03コアは8984±43年(^<14>C年代)の歴史をカバーしており、80-180cm(推定約3000年^<14>C年代)、特に500-800cm(推定約6000年^<14>C年代前)では3mにもわたり一度に大量の堆積があったことが見出された。この時期には、少なくとも四度にわたる粗/細粒化のサイクルが見出されており陸域から大量の土砂が断続的に流入する(洪水のような)イベントが起きていたことが分かった。このイベント時には、フブスグル湖ではコア中^<238>Uの主要成分である自生性^<238>U濃度が最小値、^<234>U/^<238>U放射能比がほぼ平衡値(1)になっており、湖水中U濃度と溶存U比が異常に減少したか、Uを沈降せしめる吸着剤の量またはその能力が極小になったことも明らかになった。^<14>C年代によるリザーバーイフェクトの補正も含めてさらに解析を進めることで、湖沼堆積物中でのU・Th同位体のプロキシとしての利用が可能となり、陸域における気候変化が絶対年代のもとで詳細に解明されることが期待される。
