Research Abstract

共同研究のパートナーであるヘルシンキ工科大のProf.NiinistoとDr.Karppinenとは、高温超伝導物質結晶内のキャリア分布と超伝導特性の向上に関する実験および結果の検討を行った。ペンシルバニア州立大のProf.Schlomとは酸化物の薄膜形成と電子機能について討論した。1998年11月12〜13日には、"International Workshop on Chemical Desigh and Processing of High-T_cSuperconductors IV"をDr.KarppinenとProf.Schlomとともに開催し、本共同研究の今までの成果を発表した。またヘルシンキ工科大のProf.NiinistoとはALE法による超伝導薄膜合成と、コンビナトリアルケミストリー法の材料開発への応用に関する研究協力を行った。主な成果は以下の通りである。
● 単位格子内ホール分布を自在に制御できる超伝導物質シリーズ、(Yb,Ca)(Ba,Sr)_2CU_3O_<7-d>を合成し、T_cを低下させずに不可逆磁場特性が大きく向上した試料の作製に成功した。ボンド・バレンス計算やX線吸収実験結果より、キャリアの分布を均一にすると、不可逆磁場特性が大きく向上することを見いだし、実際に物質を創製しこれを実証した。
● Ba-Ca-Cu-O系で最も高い臨界温度126Kをもつが非常に不安定な超伝導物質を合成し、この相がBa_2Ca_2Cu_3O_y(0223相)であり、大気中で"水"を含むH_5Ba_2Ca_2Cu_3O_y(H-5223相)に変化する過程を初めて解明した。これら2相を比較すると、後者の不可逆磁場特性はむしろ優れており、磁場特性は構造よりもキャリアの空間分布異方性により支配されることがわかった。
● 酸化物ヘテロ接合の完全制御をめざし、酸化物最表面構造の実空間原子レベル同定技術を確立し、成膜条件と結晶成長表面の定量的な相関を解明した。
● 新奇な磁気特性創成をめざし、強磁性酸化物におけるナノワイヤー、ナノドット低次元構造の構築に成功し、磁気特性の次元依存性についての基礎的知見を得ることができた。
● レーザーMBEをベースとするコンビナトリアルレーザーMBEおよび超格子製造装置のコンセプトを提案してこれを作製し、原子レベルで制御した多層薄膜のパラレル合成に世界で初めて成功した。また、室温紫外レーザー光の発振を見出したZnOナノドット膜のバンドギャップ制御に、コンビナトリアルレーザーMBE法が極めて有効な手法であることを明らかにした。
