Research Abstract |
We have tested the system in the field : Ishigaki Island, the southwest Ryukyus. The system introduces a gas permeable membrane tube as the equilibrator with NDIR for measurement. It has been succeeded in reducing size, weight and power consumption : 30kg, 50x50x50cm and 300W.The stability of the system is less than *5 ppm within a range of 0 to 1000 ppm, which is enough for coastal zone monitoring where a large change in CO_2 occurrs. We compared the system with a static mixer/bubble type equilibrator. The measured CO_2 values differed with each other as much as 20 ppm. This discrepancy resulted from the changes in pressure inside the equilibrator of static mixer/bubble type by swing of the boat. Our system with a membrane equilibrator is more stable. Through the 3-year research, the development of a compact CO_2, monitoring system has been succeeded for its basic designation and practical test. We continue to brush up this system to be more widely used one.
