Research Abstract

Ice storage systems are classified to static types and dynamic types. To develop the dynamic ice storage system, ice generation and flow characteristics of the slurry ice were investigated experimentally. When cooling liquid refregerant R113 of fluorinert FC-77 which is immisible to water, is injected into the water directly, thin circular ice plate, i. e. the frazil ice, generate. Using optical observation and measurementes of the temperature profiles of ice generation test vessel, following results are obrained. (1) In cooling process of water, very smooth temperature profiles in the test vessel are observed. When degrees of under cooling of water attain about the ranges from 0.05 K to 0.13 K,fine ice crystals appear in the vessel and then degree of under cooling becomes small. (2) The shape of frazil ice is very tnin circular plate and the ratio of diameter to thickness is obseved about 0.1. (3) When the ice crystal become to clod and the water flow of the surrounding clod ice stagnate partialy, the shape of ice srystals grow to dendrite. (4) When the irradiating rate of ultrasonic vibration exceedsd a certein degree, the freezing temperature of water rises about 5 ゚C.
