Research Abstract |
Billions of tiny meteor enter the earth's atmosphere daily. They generate ionized trails , called meteor burst, capable of reflecting radio signals back to earth. Meteor burst communication (MBC) is a beyond line of sight communication method using these trails. Although the average data throughput is modest, MBC has significant economic advantages over satellite systems. Then, data collection systems like a telemetry systems are the most suitable application for MBC.In this research, we analyzed protocols of data collection systems by using numerical model, and proposed a new protocol. We have done this research using MBC experiment system RANDOM which Shizuoka University operates and simulation systems which we construct. Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research was spent to traveling expenses of the observation experiments and the construction of the simulation systems. At the first term of this research, we submitted a paper about classification of various methods of the MBC data collection protocol and those analyses to the transactions of IEICE, In this paper, it is shown that the group polling method is the most efficient method. Moreover, we proposed a new protocol called power controlled probe scheme (PCPS). To analyze the efficiency of POPS theoretically, it was necessary to arrange the mathematical model of the communication path which had been used. Therefor, at the second term, we had done several experiments with RANDOM.As a result, We obtained a mathematical model necessary for analyzing PCPS.At the third term, we submitted a paper about those analyses to the transactions of IEICE. Moreover, to examine the influence of meteor shower on MBC, we observed Leonids meteor shower which had appeared in November, 1998. As a result, even if meteor shower, which is a peculiar phenomenon for MBC, appears, it is shown that the our mathematical model is useful.
