Research Abstract

本研究では、低緯度・赤道域電離圏に発生する赤道スプレッドF現象(Equatorial Spread-F;ESF)や中緯度域の電離圏構造について、衛星-地上のビーコン観測、衛星からのGPS掩蔽観測、MUレーダー観測等を用いて研究を進め、以下の成果を得た。
(1)衛星ビーコン観測用のディジタル受信機GRBR(GNU Radio Beacon Receiver)を用いて潮岬-信楽-福井の3地点ネットワーク観測を行って、トモグラフィ解析から電子密度の緯度・高度分布の推定を行い、緯度約20度の範囲の電離圏構造の把握に成功した。
(2)上記のトモグラフィ観測と衛星FORMOSAT-3/COSMICからのGPS掩蔽観測結果を駆使して、夏季の中緯度域電離圏に現れる夜間の電子密度が昼間よりも増大する現象MSNA(Mid-latitude Summer Nighttime Anomaly)について、北半球では東アジア域が現象の中心であることと、日々変動の状況を明らかにした。
(3)GRBR観測を東南アジア域(ベトナム、タイ、インドネシア)に展開して電離圏全電子密度の観測を継続した。ESFの発生に関連して、LSWS(Large Scale Wave Structure)と呼ばれる東西波長数100kmの緩やかな電子密度変動が発生することを、衛星C/NOFSを用いたビーコン観測から初めて明らかにした。
(4)2009年7月22日に発生した日食時にMUレーダー観測を実施し、部分日食の最大時を中心として強い中緯度電離圏イレギュラリティの発生を見出した。昼間であっても夜間と類似した準周期構造が現れることを明らかにした。
以上の成果について国際学術誌に合計6編の論文を発表し、本研究を成功裏に終了した。
