Research Abstract

マイクロ波水熱法による窒素ドープ酸化チタン(TiO_<2-x>N_y)の合成および窒素ドープ酸化チタンとアタパルジャイト(粘土)の複合効果について検討した。
高い加熱効率を持ち、反応時間と消費エネルギーの削減ができ、環境に優しいマイクロ波水熱法を用いて、TiO_<2-x>N_yを調製した。塩化チタン(TiCl_3)とヘキサンメチレンテトラアミン(HMT)を出発原料として用い、TiO_<2-x>N_yを合成し、光触媒特性に及ぼす反応条件の影響を調べた。その結果、反応に用いるHMTの量が生成物の結晶構造に大きな影響を与えることを見出し、反応条件を制御することにより、アナターゼ、ルチル、ブルッカイト等の異なる結晶構造を持つTiO_<2-x>N_yの選択合成が可能であることを示した。また、反応溶媒を水からエタノールに切り替えると、10nmぐらいのロッド状粒子や、直径約550nmの球状粒子の合成も可能であった。合成されたサンプルは高い比表面積を持ち、優れたDeNO_x活性を示した。得られた試料のうち、ルチルとアナターゼの混合相のTiO_<2-x>N_yが一番高い光触媒活性を示したが、これは異なる結晶相の粒子間の電子移動による電子-正孔の再結合抑制効果と考えられる。
TiO_<2-x>N_yとアタパルジャイト(attapulgite)の複合化は水熱法、水中混合法、と乾式乳鉢混合法で試みた。水熱法では、attapulgite粉末をTiCl_3とHMTの混合溶液に分散させた後、水熱反応を行った。一方、水中混合法と乾式乳鉢混合法では、予め合成したTiO_<2-x>N_y粉末とattapulgiteとを混合した。SEMおよびTEM観察の結果により、いずれの手法で得られたサンプルでも、TiO_<2-x>N_yナノ粒子が針状attapulgite粒子上によく分散していることが確認された。
Attapulgiteに僅か10wt.%のTiO_<2-x>N_yを添加することにより、光触媒活性が大幅に上昇し、更に25wt.%まで増やすと、単独のTiO_<2-x>N_yに匹敵する高いDeNO_x活性を示した。これは、attapulgiteの高い吸着能とTiO_<2-x>N_yのナノ粒子の高分散性に起因すると考えられる。アタパルジャイトは非常に安価で、既に建築材料として使用されており、TiO_<2-x>N_yとの複合化により、安価で優れた可視光応答光触媒活性を持つ材料として利用できると考えられる。
