Research Abstract

GIS技術を用いた歴史資料を分析する方法は、既存の歴史地理学的研究のみにならず、多くの隣接分野とも興味関心を共有できる。本年度の研究成果は、以下の2点にまとめることができる。
1.海外におけるHistorical GISの普及とその技術・方法論についての把握
本研究課題のGISを用いた歴史時代の包括的な時空間分析を試みる研究は、海外において盛んに取り組まれており、特に米国ハーバード大学地理解析センター(以下CGA)では、中国を対象に過去2000年にわたる中国の行政境界データを整備したChina Historical GISプロジェクトは、その分野での評価も高い。報告者は、日本学術振興会優秀若手研究者海外派遣事業によって、2010年2月15日から8月30日までの期間、CGAにおいて研究活動をする機会を得た。その期間中は、海外におけるHistorical GISの動向の把握と、CGAが所有する過去の日本のGISデータの整備に取り組んだ。現在、このデータは、CGAのWEBページに公開されており、ダウンロードすることが可能である。
2.近世期の京都に関わる歴史地理情報データベースとGISを援用した研究成果の公開
これまでに作成・整備された近世京都に関する名所案内記、洛中洛外図屏風、出版図、町鑑、交差点地名などのGISデータベースを利用して、国内外での研究発表および学術図書での執筆を進めた。
1)出版図:先行研究においてなされた出版図の時代区分に従って、各時代の代表的な地図を対象に、記入された地名を取り出し、GISデータとして整備した。これらのデータベースとGISの空間分析機能を用いて、時空間分析を試み、近世京都の出版図における「省略される地域」と「強調される地域」を抽出した。
2)町鑑:版元データ、京羽二重データ、遊客人名帳データをGISで時空間的に分析した。このうち、版元データ、京羽二重データについては、漆器関連の職人が近世期を通じて上京から下京に移動していく様子が明らかにされた。また、遊客人名帳データについては、どの地域に裕福層が立地していたのか、その変化を明らかにした。
