(1) We have developed a finger tip view control system and multifunctional laparoscopic probe, and successfully adopted it in several clinical situations. We have also completed several endoscopic surgical simulation videos for the education of medical students and young doctors.
(2) The finger tip view control system is a robotic endoscopic view control system used during laparoscopic surgery. The field of view is moved by a control switch on the handle of the forceps, making it possible for eight different directions, in and out zooming, and restoration of the default settings. Since the scope itself doesn't actually move (the CCD does), the scope holder doesn't move either, so there is no risk of an accident caused by moving the holder arm. This system not only saves space around the operating table, it keeps the holder arm from getting in the surgeon's way and prevents the scope from interfering with the forceps inside the cavity.
(3) The multifunctional laparoscopic probe has 3 different functions : irrigation, suction, and electrocautery. By using this probe, operating time was shorter and complications caused by the frequent inserting and extracting of probes was avoided. Because this probe is reusable, another advantage was its cost effectiveness, as this probe is reusable.
(4) Our project also has some future prospects for a low cost telesurgery system which is still undergoing development by Olympus Co. By using the finger tip view control system, telesurgery using telecommunications equipment (ISDN, Internet etc.) may soon be achievable.
5,今後の展望:本研究者らが開発・実用化した視野移動式腹腔鏡下手術システムおよび現在オリンパス光学工業で開発中である遠隔手術用装置を用い,ISDN,インターネット回線通信網を確立することにより「遠隔手術システム」の実用化が可能となる.「遠隔手術システム」を用いて,種々の高度外科手術について,まず学内,次に県内,さらには日本国内,海外とのTelesurgeryを行う.数年後にはDSL(Digital Subscriber Line)を導入し,より高速な画像情報伝達システムを実現する.
