Research Abstract |
1 We have analyzed the data of history of accent included in The History of Accent in Japanese : a Complete Listing (1997, Hereafter cited as The History) which we published before and made a basic and applicational research on them, and published the results. (1) We have researched on bibliographies of the materials cited in The History, their values as materials of history of accent, and their uses, and published the results. (Studies of the History of Accent in Japanese, 1998, Hereafter cited as The Studies) . (2) We have sorted out the data cited in The History, broken down the historical changes of each accent of the nouns, verbs, and adjectives, and published the results in The Studies under the title of "Waseda Gorui (Waseda-style word breakdown) ." And we have compared and contrasted "Waseda Gorui" with "Kindaichi Gorui", and published the results as text-format data. (Contrastive Materials of "Waseda Gorui" and "Kindaichi Gorui", 1998) (3) We have extracted data for compound nouns from the data included in The History, and considered their accent types and their relationships with word formation. Part of these results have been published in The Studies, and we are planning to continue studying them. 2 Our studies in the various modern dialect accents have partly resulted in the above-mentioned "Waseda Gorui". As for the Kyoto-Osaka and Tokyo accents, the following two books have been published based on our studies. (1) Umegaki Kyoto Accents Basic Materials, including Tokyo Dialect Accents with a floppy disk (1998) (2) Ikeda Kname Kyoto-Osaka Accents Materials--Indexes Listed by Goju-on Order (2000) 3 We have made a basic research and compiled the indexes of materials of history of accents. We could not publish the results within this year, but since we have almost finished the basic research, we are planning to publish them in the near future.
