Research Abstract

In this research, we developed a visualization system for physical values in virtual space by using virtual reality system as a visual method stimulating sensitivity of observers. The following systems and algorithms have been developed.
(1) Development of visualization method of information distributed in 3D space by using virtual reality system : The best method to observe physical values distributed in 3D space is to utilize stereo system. We developed a virtual reality based visualization system which grasps the changes of the arbitrary 3D field distributions utilizing the movement of an object inside the 3D virtual space.
(2) Developments of high speed algorithm and data structure for volume rendering : In order to observe vector values in 3D space, its magnitude, direction, loci, and also distributions in various states in 3D space should be displayed simultaneously. For realizing this, a new visualization method using streamlines and volume rendering technology together is developed.
(3) Development of graphical user interface for virtual reality system : By using data grove and magnetic sensors, we developed graphical user interface using gestures going well human feelings.
(4) Development high speed interpolation algorithm : We developed the interpolation algorithm that obtains the unknown physical value distribution at any positions bounded by two or more given analysis results where the moving object is placed discretely.
