Many reports have pointed out that Candida albicans is one of the main causative factors of denture stomatitis.Test Soft lining materials (Methyl Methacrylate and Vinyl Poly Siloxane) containing the anti-microbial (A-M) agents have developed for the prevention of denture stomatitis.Mechanical properties and bacteriostasis were analyzed about the influence of A-Magents.A-M agents was contaminated and immersed to the the Soft lining materials as 1,2,3,5, and 7 weight percent respectively.Shore hardness, Water sorption and Antibacterial ability were tested with these materials.Bacterial colonies were counted on the GPLP agar preparations on the tested pieces.Test Soft lining materials containing 3 % of A-M agents were developed from the results of denture polymers.
Following results were concluded : All mechanical properties were scarcely influenced by containing A-M agents.Bacteriostasis was clearly approved in the test polymers containing over 2 % of A-M agents without degrading the mechanical properties of Soft lining materials. Shore hardness test was scarcely influenced by containing A-M agents in Soft lining materials.Bacteriostasis was clearly observed in test Soft lining materials containing 2 % of A-M agents with and without thermal cycling test.
When A-M agents containing the above ratios were increased, the setting time extended. It seemed that the A-M agents were affected by the catalyst of Soft lining materials.
I conculded that, when good properties were providcd by the fixcd ratios of A-M agents and composition of Soft lining materials, the setting time was short.
