TITLE OF PROJECT IN 1999 :
A Basic Experimental Study for the Safety Standardization about the Shape and Structure of Tsuki-dare and Ago-dare of Men.
The purpose of this study is to clarify the difference of each shock absorbing property of Tsuki-dare and Ago-dare of Men which have different kind of material, shape and structure, and to obtain the fundamental data for safety standardization of Kendo equipment.
Nine kinds of material of Tsuki, which are already on the market, are analyzed by Tsuki machine and equipment for measuring Tsuki impact force. Also, I compared with difference of the impact force on Tsuki-dare and Ago-dare and Ago-dare in various material, shape, width of Tsuki-dare to throat and thrust position on Tsuki-dare.
The results are summarized as follows :
1) The adequate space between Tsuki-dare and sensor bed, which means human throat, effect on reduction of the Tsuki impact force.
2) The Tsuki impact force change by the position on Tsuki-dare, and that force in thrusting lower part of Tsuki-dare is greater than thrusting center part.
3) The thickness and stiffness of Tsuki-dare effect on reduction of Tsuki impact force, however it is very dangerous because of thrusting on throat directly in the case of the over-rounded surface of Tsuki-dare.
4) The effect on the reduction of Tsuki impact force should be investigated by using various kinds of material and shape of Tsuki-dare and Ago-dare, and space between Tsuki-dare and Ago-dare.
