Research Abstract |
The objective of the present research is to collect poetic works of Buddhist Enjoyment written by Jien and to analyze their contexts. In fact, these collections are so widely dispersed and complicated that apparently they are difficult to handle with Consequently they need the minute analysis and wider and multilateral viewpoints, inasmuch as the contemporary works may rightly regarded as the collection of Buddhist enjoyment. Since the year 1999 I have continued the research mainly at National Literature Archives where the materials dispersed all over the nation have been gathered without serious obstruction and preserved in the form of facsimile editions and microfilms. Of course sometimes I have met with difficult cases...that satisfactory results are not admitted in spite of the cost and work required in the research. In the future to come, I move still forward with those difficult cases after considering the problems involved so far. As to the Texts of Sho-ren-in Collection I have finished the collation of the texts in the study "Textual Collection of Shu-gyoku-shu by means of analysis", which was granted by the Ministry of Education and Science last year. In this sense I have to say as a special remark that this grant basis to the analysis of the poetic works of Buddhist enjoyment. Moreover in the year 1998 Texts Collation of Shu-gyoku-shu(published by Bensei-sha in 1998), a study granted by the Ministry of Education and Science, has contributed to the academic studies.
