Research Abstract

I investigated the Noh-authors at post-Zeami period and their style. Collecting not only the texts of the works by contemporary authors, but also the works by unknown authors, making a database on pictures of Utai-bon, I made investigation into works of Noh drama with that database.
I got two results from the investigation of works of Noh drama. One is that I could investigate and researched into the works that has the exactly different style from Zeami's Yugen-Noh, especially into the works about the battles of warriors. The other is that I could investigate whole works written by Noh-author Miyamasu.
In fact, before Zeamis appearance there had already been many works of Noh drama which warriors appear in. But under the Ages of Zeami, such works were rarely written. Then post-Zeami period had come, that kind of works became popular again ; Genzaino-works, describing battles between warriors, were written one after another.
Miyamasu has been considered a mysterious author for a long time. But this research proved that there was a strong possibility that he was a Noh-dayu of Ise-Sarugaku's origin, had a big roll at post-Zeami period, lived Shimokusu in the Province Ise, and worked around the Province of Ise and Yamato. It also appeared a possibility to conclude that he was Miyamasu Jiro-Goro who was employed as the Tsuzumi-Player by Kanzeza-School belonging to Yamato-Sarugaku and died in 1465 A.D. In Nohon Sakusha Chumon, there are ten pieces of works named for Miyamasu's work and it had never been distinguished between true or false. But through this investigation, it was confirmed that many of those ten works that have Mugen-Noh Style were even made in Genzai-Noh's way. Now we can imagine his style wholly differently.
