Research Abstract |
1) The normal neural retinas obtained from transgenic mice have been successfully transplanted into the subretinal space of retinal dystrophic mice without immune suppression. Any sign of the immune rejection was not observed by the fundoscopic examination. 2) It was found that the orientation of the differentiating photoreceptor outer segments were varied in each experiment and that the proper orientation could hardly archived in our current method. 3) Several attempts to improve the results have been performed, and further histological and electrophysiological studies are needed. 4) The TGF-beta neutralizing antibody successfully suppresses the development of experimental proliferative vitreoretinopathy in rabbit eyes. 5) Electroretinograms were examined in patients with various retinal diseases to study retinal function, in order to compare with those in experimental animals. 6) An LED built-in electrode was developed and tested in human eyes.
