Research Abstract |
1.We made a comparative study of the trace elements in oral mucosa of 17 patients with oral lichen planus (OLP group) and of 86 healthy persons (control group) by Particle Induced X-Ray Emission (PIXE) method. 2.We detected 24 essential elements and 11 contaminated elements in the oral mucosa of both groups. 3.In the mean concentration values of Ca, Se and Rb, there were significantly lower values in the OLP group than in the control group. 4.As for the women older than 30 years, the OLP group (14 patients) showed significantly higher values than the control group (15 healthy persons) in the four elements such as P, Fe, Zn and Sr. 5.We found by PIXE method that some transitional elements which cause allergic reaction showed higher values in the OLP oral mucosa than in the healthy oral mucosa.
