Research Abstract |
After so-called lost ten years the status of Japan as model for economic development had fallen down. In palace of it globalization has become the main thread for economic development and, hens, the American business models has risen. Assuming that whether educational system adapts to the border-less world economy has become crucial key all over the world, we attempted to make comparative studies about school-business partnerships in twelve countries and two areas as UK, USA, Germany, France, Holland, Norway, EU, China, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. We have made 25 trips with 36 research project members. And during the research period we have made five presentations in academic societies, three international and two domestic. We have been invited to present our findings at two international seminar and workshop. We have published an interim report in March 2001, and final report in March 2002. We have found several similar trends in these countries and areas. Namely, after the end of bipolar world of different ideologies, education has become economy-driven and its most important thing is to cope with global economic competition. In the consequence, a basically similar tendency emerged in every country and area that bureaucratic rule has begun to be weakened, educational governance has become market-oriented and gradually privatized. Most conspicuous influence everywhere is exerted from globalization. Such countries as Korea, Taiwan and Singapore, that are called Newly Industrialized Economies, are following the educational operation models of the USA. Also they tend to merge school education and HRD under the same umbrella following the UK s government reform. Therefore, international division of manufacturing patterns, as Japan flying first and the others are following after that was adapted to the Asian countries, seems to have completely lost its applicability.
