Research Abstract

Ti-Zr-Ta-Nb系合金は生体為害性を示さない元素からなり、比較的高い機械的強度及び低い弾性率を示すので整形外科や歯科のインプラント材料として有用である。これらに高い骨結合能と骨形成促進能を付与できれば、早期の骨結合により患者の社会復帰を早め、長期に亘り安定した治療効果を期待できる。骨結合能は擬似体液中でのアパタイト形成を調べることにより予測できる。申請者らは、昨年度までの研究により、Ti金属及びTi-15Zr-4Nb-4Ta合金をNaOH水溶液に浸漬し、次いでCaイオンとMgあるいはSr, Zn, Li, Gaの骨形成を促進するイオン(以下、骨形成イオン)を含む混合溶液に浸漬し、これを加熱処理し、続いて上記の骨形成イオンを含む水溶液に浸漬すると、処理後のTi金属及び合金の表面層に1.5~3.3原子%のCaイオンと共に0.4~1.7原子%の骨形成イオンが導入できることを明らかにした。処理後のTi金属及び合金はリン酸緩衝液中に7日間で0.03~0.9ppmの骨形成イオンを徐放し、擬似体液中で3日以内にアパタイトを形成することがわかった。
本年度の研究では、上記の処理を施したTi-15Zr-4Nb-4Ta合金が骨形成イオンを溶出する速度及び濃度を定量的に調べた。その結果、Ti-15Zr-4Nb-4Ta合金は表面層に残留した合金成分の影響によりTi金属に比べて低い濃度の骨形成イオンの溶出を示すが、Ti金属と同様に7日間にわたりこれらのイオンを徐放することがわかった。
これらの金属及び合金は、体内で骨形成イオンを徐放して周囲の骨形成を促進し、アパタイトを形成して早期に骨と結合できると期待される。
