Research Abstract

水素、リチウム、窒素などの軽元素は、独特な局在量子構造をもち、材料物性を大きく変化させる。
本年度に得られた成果は次の通りである。
(1)光通信用の1.5μm帯の発光材料である、エルビウム(Er)をドープした酸化亜鉛(ZnO)に、窒素イオンを注入し、高温空気中で熱処理を施すことにより、発光強度が無添加なものに比べて、約40倍も増大することを発見した。
(2)高容量水素貯蔵材料として期待されている錯体水素化物の化学結合を計算し、錯体水素化物の相安定指標図を提案した。また、リチウム水素化物の特徴を明らかにした。
(3)高クロム鋼の水蒸気酸化と大気酸化の間の顕著な違いが、水蒸気酸化中に試料に侵入する水素量と関係があることを実証した。水素は主に表面スケール中の鉄クロムスピネル酸化物に侵入し、酸化中のイオンの移動速度を変える。
(4)FePtクラスターを内包したMgO膜について研究し、2nm直径の世界最小のL1_0規則相(=強磁性相)クラスターを作製することに成功した。また、超常磁性への相転移が、磁性デバイスの高密度化の障害になることを実験から示した。
(5)ルチルおよびアナターゼ薄膜をパルスレーザーアブレーション法で作製し、それを電子顕微鏡内でUV光照射することにより光化学反応を起こさせ、炭化水素膜が分解される過程を世界で初めて観察した。
(6)局所の原子構造を立体的に可視化するための3次元電子顕微鏡法の開発にも取りくみ、ZnO微粒子、FePtクラスター、TiO_2薄膜および白金スーパー結晶などを立体観察した。
