| Research Abstract |
2000-21: Research Effort and Results for this Two-year Period are as Follows.
1. Regarding the Toshogu festivals of Tohoku domains, the case of Akita domain was organized, and the paper Toshogu festival of Akita domain written. Also, historical materials relating to Hirosaki and Sendai domains were collected.
2. To understand the characteristics of the Tohoku Toshogu festival, conditions of Edo's festival were surveyed, and an oral presentation on the anniversary of Tokugawa Ieyasu's death, `A study on the anniversary of Tokugawa Ieyasu's death,` was delivered. Also, a reprint of related materials was published in the report.
3. As a premise to researching the Toshogu festival of the premodern era, trends of Kanei-ji Religious Association were studied. An oral presentation, `A discussion on Buddhist politics of `Gyouyo-oboegaki,``was delivered and a paper by the same title was submitted. In addition, prerequisite materials were reprinted, and corresponding materials of the premodern Tendai priest Jouin and the collection of historical materials, `Togakushi,` (1-2) were published Regarding points elucidated through this work, an oral presentation, `The Propagation of Togakushi Mountain Asceticism in the Eastern Country,` was delivered, and `A List of People with ties to Kanei-ji` was created and printed in the report.
4. To elucidate foe trends of premodem Kanei-ji Religious Association, tendencies of Zojo-ji of the same period were studied. As a result of this study, oral presentations, `Tokugawa Sovereign and Toshogu` was delivered. The notes of its presentation was recorded in the report.
Based on results of the aforementioned studies, and as the following steps, papers on the Toshogu festival of Hirosaki and Sendai domains, the anniversary of Tokugawa Ieyasu's death, and Togakushi shugen are planned for the near future.
