Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to examine the links of eating behavior and the subjective symptoms of health disorder. A sample of 303 Japanese students (214 women and 89 men) completed the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ), the Food Neophobia Scale (FNS) and the Health Questionnaire (Imada, 1995). On the base of the analysis of covariance structures within the framework of confirmatory factor analysis, models that are differentiated with gender are proposed. Although FNS has predictive power to the subjective symptoms of health disorder in women, no such causal relationship is gained in men. The results are discussed in the line of the gender differences of the links of eating behavior and the health disorder.
