Research Abstract |
In this study, we analyzed autoparametric resonances in practical power systems. The results are summarized as follows: 1) WEST30 and EAST30 power system models of IEE Japan were used to analyse mid-western area 60Hz system and eastern area 50Hz system. Since generators and control systems are represented in detail, we revised our power swing simulation program and eigenvalue analysis program. 2) In the mid-western area 60Hz system, autoparametric resonance occurs between the lowest oscillation mode and the second lowest ones. Besides, an excitation system mode participates in this resonance. 3) A second order equation was derived far force on the excitation system mode, and it was shown that this mode is excited by the lowest oscillation mode. This excitation system mode next acts so as to deteriorate the damping characteristics of the lowest oscillation mode. 4) Time variations of these modes and two second lowest oscillation modes were calculated, which gave almost same results an those obtained with the simulation program. It was thus verified these four modes were dominant in the stability of the power system. 5) The automatic resonance is stronger far constant-current loads than for constant-impedance loads. 6) In the eastern 50Hz, autoparametric resonance appeared with structural changes due to faults. Relevant modes were the lowest oscillation mode and the excitation system mode in this case.
