Research Abstract |
The final purpose of our research is development of a soft-switched AC/DC converter which has a simple construction, high efficiency and low cost and no electromagnetic pollution. In this research, we have been planning to clear up as follows: First plan : Not to generate the electromagnetic pollution, we developed a novel soft-switched AC/DC converter by using only one capacitor. Next, we have obtained the basic operating principle and characteristics such as the power factor and distortion factor, output voltage and its ripple ratio. On planning above, we could develop a new soft-switched AC/DC converter with high power factor in the both of discontinuous conduction mode and continuous conduction mode under the soft switching. Second plan: For the above new AC/DC converter, we have obtained the basic operating principle and characteristics such as the power factor and distortion factor, output voltage and its ripple ratio, too. Above works have been presented at the meetings hold by IEEJ and IEIC as shown on back page. These AC/DC converters have one problem for the world-wide input voltage ( about 80〜290 V). In this case, the AC/DC converters need special switch elements in order to generate high voltage of 4-6 times for the input voltage. Therefore we have investigated other type soft-switched AC/DC converter for the world-wide type of the input voltage and have found a new circuit for that. Now we are studying this circuit.
