Research Abstract |
The information of the movement and the position of the object are integrated in the brain when we recognize the movement of the object in the space. The process in the human brain has been not enough elucidated. Because the optokinetic stimulation had the visual spatial information of the movement of the field, we aimed to elucidate the processes of the recognition of the visual spatial movement in the brain. For this aim, we examined the activities of the brain during optokinetic stimulation by functional MRI. During optokinetic stimulation, the increase of the activities of the superior temporal gyrus Including the MT and MST field in normal subjects. The domination of the activity was admitted in the right hemisphere. We examined the activities of the brain during the full field optokinetic stimulation and narrow field stimulation. When the full field optokinetic stimulation, the activities of the MT and MST field, and parieto-ccipital area increased. We forecast the Increase of the activities of the field concerning with the attention and the eye movement beside the field with visual recognition in the brain during the optokinetic stimulation. We examined functional MRI by the use of the visual stimulation thought to cause the similar eye movement by which the optokinetic stimulation is caused. The activities of the MT and MST field, and parieto-ccipital area during the latter stimulation were less than those during the optokinetic stimulation. We suppose that the MT and MST field, and parieto-ccipital area concern the recognition of the visual spatial movement in the human brain.
