Research Abstract |
During our search for new natural products from unutilized north line plant biomass, unique alkaloids and peptides have been isolated from Daphniphyllum humile, Cephalotaxus harringtonia var. nana, Lycopodium serratum var. serratum, L complanatum, L. chinense, and Celosia argentea. These nitrogen-containing compounds possessed unique chemical structures and some of them exhibited unique biological activities such as antimitotic, antitumor, and antimalaria activities. From biogenetic points of view, these alkaloids were interesting and we proposed plausible biogenetic paths.
