Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to obtain basic data for clarifying physical fitness component and its level to be had as a nursing profession employee, by examining the relationship between physical fitness of nursing college student and physical fatigue degree under nursing practical training. For the female college students of 158 persons who entered the school in the 1997 - 1999 fiscal year, at the point of time in which the students of each year finished nursing practical training, the measurement of physique, body composition, physical fitness, and the heel bone stiffness were carried out. Simultaneously, the questionnaire survey on body condition and fatigue during nursing practical training period was carried out. The question item was such as items on daily life, fatigue degree, subjective symptom under practical training, etc., and it evaluated degree of seriousness by the scale. When the analysis was carried out by the total of the data of 3 school years, it was recognized the negative relationship between the number of items chosen as fatigue factor during nursing practical training and leg extension power (r=-0.16, p<0.05). The group in which the fatigue degree was low after practical training hi a day was significantly higher the mean value of the leg extension power than the high fatigue group. The mean value of back strength was significantly lower than not so group for the group in which replied that the fatigue during the hardest practical training period has always remained. Physical fitness component, which is necessary under nursing practical training and that required for working, as nurse may be not completely identical. However, it was indicated that the maintenance of leg extension power over the fixed level (18-19W/kg) was vital for the student with the aim of becoming the nursing profession employee, by this study.
