Research Abstract |
The aim of our research is to develop the curriculum, with close relationship with various teaching subjects in schools such as science, sociology, literature and so on, that makes students realize strong relationship between the main components of natural environment, air, water, soil and their own lives. The basic concepts for curriculum development are as follows: #1 To understand icomprehensively air, water, soil as main components in nature. #2 For #1, planning will be made for the classroom lesson and out-door activities in various natural environment such as the sea, river and mountain. These environments are composed of air, water and soil comprehensively and are very intimate to students #3 In the planning, we focus not only for students to make being conscious to the relationship between their own lives and natural environments but also the close relationship between the school teaching subjects and the contents of student activities in and out of school. According to these concepts, we have developed teaching material, seven lesson plans and tried to implement these experimentally in primary, junior high schools and in the nature, seashore and mountain side. On the basis of these research and practices, we have developed the curriculum for the period of integrated studies relating to air, water, soil and life as its theme.
