Research Abstract |
The final purpose of the research is to clarify the relation between the activity of humans and the distribution of environmental polution markers including harmful heavy metals of the area surrounding Ohmura bay. The calibration of the age of sediment at the bottom of Ohmura bay was done by means of the Pb-210 radioactivity measurement. The measurement also revealed the sedimentation speed of soils and the Pb-210. Cs-137 global fallout was also detected and evaluated originated from nuclear tests and accidents such as the accident of the Chernobyl nuclear power station. Many of technical problem to resolve was found to evaluate the Pb-210. The measurement of the environmental pollution markers is the future task. We are planning to do PIXE analysis of heavy metals using an accerelator, and combine many data such as vital statics or echonomical activities around the Ohmura bay using GIS system.
