Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In 2014 I was focusing mainly on preparation and finalization of the JEM-EUSO mission and its side-projects : EUSO-TA and EUSO-BALLOON. The main research results can be summarized as following : 1) The analyzing, fixing and reintegration of the EUSO-TA hardware. The hardware malfunctions discovered in 2013 had to be repaired. This was done during my 2 visits to France in cooperation with French specialists. Additionally, the hardware and software had to be updated to the recent version compatible with the progress made in parallel for the EUSO-BALLOON experiment. Then I had to perform reintegration and testing of the whole Data Processing unit of the EUSO-TA in RIKEN, Japan. 2) The knowledge coming from the tests of the EUSO-TA apparatus in 2013 performed by me and my colleagues in 2013 had to be applied to the EUSO-BALLOON experiment, which took place partially during my visits to France. This resulted in the successful launch of the EUSO-BALLOON mission in August 2014. 3) The off-line analysis software which I have developed required adjustments and development with regard to the request of the people from the JEM-EUSO collaboration and to fulfill the demands of the on-going analysis of data from EUSO-BALLOON. 4) The knowledge derived from the work on EUSO-TA, EUSO-BALLOON and JEM-EUSO was used in making a research plan and instrumental specification for other incoming JEM-EUSO missions : K-EUSO and mini-EUSO.
