Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ILCでの新物理の詳細研究のためにはe-e+衝突点で極小ビーム収束が要求されている中で、加速器試験施設ATF2において、電子ビームの調整を自ら研究所の職員の方々と協力して行いながらも極小電子ビームサイズの精密測定に関する研究に携わってきた。その結果、垂直方向e-ビームサイズを37nmまで絞ることにより局所色収差補正を採用したILCの最終収束系を検証するという目標にたどり着いた。
本研究の主題であるATF2の仮想衝突点にインストールされている新竹モニタはレーザー干渉を用いる手法により100 nm以下を測れる唯一の実存する手段であり、ATF2の目標達成及びILCの実現に向けて本質的な役割を担ってきた。 2014の春の加速器ランでは45 nm 以下のビームサイズを測れた。更に、レーザーと電子ビームの相互作用から生じる様々な系統誤差と統計誤差、信号の不安定性要因が測定に与える影響を検討した。測定データを基にした新竹モニタの性能評価の結果は測定の系統誤差を明確にしました。系統誤差の補正を行うことにより、測定値から真実のビームサイズを引き出す事が出来て、それにより本当のビームサイズは更に小さい、つまり目標値の37 nmに達成していることを示した。以上の研究結果を国内外の学会や論文で発表を行った。また周りの研究者の方々と効率よく議論して実験の成果を高めて行けるように定期的に分かったことを資料にまとめて共有しようと努めた。
