Research Abstract |
Using currently available internet-based date entry systems for clinical trials, it is necessary to re-enter data that are already stored in hospital information systems. This is not only troublesome to physicians, but also may generate inputting errors and debase data quality. In this study, we developed data entry system for clinical trials, using which patients' laboratory data stored in hospital information system are automatically transferred to fulfill data entry form. The system is made up of the four part : namely, (1) server module in coordinating center, (2) WWW browser for physicians, (3) HTTP-HL7 gateway module which communicate hospital communication system with HL7 and WWW browser with HTTP. In HMTL-based data form sent from the data center server, information concerning datum, which should be obtained from hospital information, are embedded using "hidden" variable attributes. And, as different from ordinary data form, HTTP-HL7 gateway located in hospital is specified as data form posting site, instead of the data center server. When a physician submits the data form, its contents are sent to HTTP-HL7 gateway server and, in return, date form fulfilled with laboratory data stored hospital information system is sent to the WWW browser. Then physician submit the returned form to data center.
