Research Abstract |
The aim of this project is the development of a biocompatible material that is implanted in living human body by using excimer laser irradiation method. The results obtained in this project are as follows ; A.Development of biocompatible material (1)Formation of hydroxyapatite(HAp) layer on Al_2O_3 substrate by excimer laser irradiation method was achieved. (2)Formation of a new bone on the surface of the above-mentioned sample was observed when the sample was immersed in stimulated body fluid(SBF) for 2 weeks. B.Effect of crystalline condition of HAp target on coating layer Growth of HAp coating layer in SBF has been observed only when the slab crystal target was used. C.Development of a new method for HAp coating on biocompatible materials (1)The laser assisted-laser ablation(LALA) method was developed by using KrF and ArF excimer lasers. (2)High quality hydroxyapatite coating was obtained by control the irradiation timing of assist laser. These results were reported in the international conference of APLS'2000(invited), FSE2001,IMLAS'03,COLA'03 and many domestic conferences.
