Research Abstract |
In this study, for investigating the situation of Spanish language in the United States, we canned out document research, questionnaire research and field work. The results of the questionnaire research have been presented in bidimensional matrix of Spanish speaking cities and linguistic forms. In the field work, we observed linguistic landscape of Los Angels, Chicago, Buffalo and Dallas, collected documents and added some observations offered by researchers living in these cities. In the last year of the term of the project, we organized the documents and visual materials and prepared the conclusion of the study. The final report is composed of (1) Spanish in the United States (Research of Spanish lexical variation in Los Angels, The Speech of Spanish speaking students, visual materials), (2) Shady of Spanish lexical variation (Lexical variables in Spanish speaking countries according sex, Internet as a tool of collaborative studies, Automatic cartography in Internet, patternized configuration of geolinguistic data : Application to Spanish lexical variation, Methods of 'Hand-made' Corpus Linguistics : A Bilingual Database and the Programming of Analyzers), (3) Index of lexical variation We published in Internet the material of Spanish lexical variation in form of data base.
