Research Abstract |
The development of a rapid aging society and a society who attach importance on welfare, have brought a new idea to the enterprise its product development. Recently, a study on "barrier free" has been aggressively progressed, from which the construction of a social infrastructure is being pursued. This is not only for the elderly or the handicapped, it will enable every individual to act freely and safely in the local society without hindrance, so they can actively participate in the local society. A system examined in this study helps to support the sight handicapped when walking. In other words, the system guides the sight handicapped to walk on their own and to guide them to any location such as a public building. When explaining in detail, the new barrier-free system is composed some picture character's blocks where some electronic parts are enclosed, a portable machine which generates voice, and a electronic white cane which emits electric wave. The vision for the future is the construction of a new barrier-free system, that incorporates the ITS(Intelligent Transport Systems)which is advanced at present by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport, and so on. We developed a vocal walking inducement new system for the visually handicapped person and completed the prototype, as a result of this research. Then we are advancing the practical use of the system and the research of making to a new business now.
