Research Abstract |
Anglo-Australian Observatory has started galaxy survey in June 2001 with 6dF, a multi-fiber spectrograph attached to the UK Schmidt telescope. Wakamatsu, a member of international science team, worked mostly for the redshift survey along the Galactic plane. Targets of this spectroscopic survey are, contrary to SDSS and 2dF surveys, based on 2MASS, the two-micron all sky survey, and we selected more than 130,000 galaxies which are brighter than 13 mag in K band. Measuring their redshifts, we discloses the Local Large-Scale Structure within the distance cz < 30,000 km/s. The preliminary results are as follows : 1) We studied the mass density of the Local Universe by obtaining 3-dimensional distribution of galaxies. 2) Along the Galactic plane, we succeeded in measuring recession velocities of many hidden galaxies which are clearly seen in the K-band. 3) We obtained spectra good enough to estimate bulk motions of clusters by apply Dn-sigma relation. 4) We have made the first data release, and would like analyze them for studies of the bias parameter and the cosmological constant.
