Research Abstract |
The Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope (CLSM) was used in this study as nondestructive testing method. Standardized cavities were prepared of extracted human teeth. The prepared specimen was restored with various adhesive systems experimentally. The restored specimens supplied to the dye penetration test with Rohdamine B solution. Microleakage of the sectioned specimens were evaluated with the CLSM. Conventionally, many researchers used technique of the dye penetration test that a microscope observed by pigment penetration and cutting of the later specimen for marginal sealing property of adhesive restoration. However it was possible to examine it in a non destruction state by CLSM and the use of fluorescence pigment in this study. Furthermore, examination was done which part a microleakage penetrate from the cavity margin. These results were reported in the Journal of Dental Research,80,81,82-Special Issue and the China-Japan Medical Conference 2002.
