Research Abstract |
The oral infection control of the compromised patients during peripheral blood stem cell transport (PBSCT) is very important to prevent spreading the infection to other region. We should remove periodontopathic bacteria, but there is the possibility that the treatment without the consideration causes the exposure the blood vessel system to oral bacteria. The purpose of this research is the following 3 points. 1, Setting screening parameter item to quantify the oral infection. 2. Evaluate the progress during PBSCT. 3. Establish the oral bacteria detecting system from peripheral blood. 1. There 3 items were necessary to plan dentistry treatment of the PBSCT patients. Measurement of periodontal pocket depth, detection and quantification of periodontal pocket bacterial, and leukocyte quantification and qualification were important. 2. We had survey periodontal conditions and immune responses of 12 patients before/during/after PBSCT. Although there were differences in periodontal condition, or immune system responses, we succeed the control of periodontal infection with all the patients. 3. We established the oral bacterial detecting system. Using this system, we became possible to detect and quantify oral bacterial without time-consuming cultivation.
