Research Abstract |
1.In this term I visited Helsinki University in Finland, Saint-Petersburg University and The Library of Academy of Science in Russian Federation, The Library of Academy of Science in Estonia and collected some historical materials concerning to the research project. 2.Analysing the process of inviting foreign scholars, their numerical movement and the significance of their scientific activities in such scholarly and higher educational institutions in Russian Empire, as Academy of Science, Moscow University and so on, I wrote down a paper "Foreign Scholars in Russian Empire". 3.Investigating on the contribution of German philosopher, Leibniz, to the foundation of Academy of Science in Saint Petersburg and collecting some materials, including his letters to Russian Emperor, Peter the Great, I wrote down a memorandum on Leibniz's role in the history of science in 18th century and its relationship with Russian Empire. 4.Investigating the significance of western scientific and education tradition in western borderlands of Russian Empire, especially that of Baltic German scholars, I wrote down a paper, "Empire, Nation and Schools". 5.Investigation the Russian women's academic activities in western Universities, too, I wrote about it in the monograph "Catherine's Dream, Sophia's Journey : A Social History of Women's Education in Imperial Russia".
