Research Abstract

This study aims to clarify relationships of brain-wave characteristics to thermal and humid sensations, and to thermal and humid stimuli within clothing. The results obtained were as follows.
1) Relationships of the thermal and humid sensations to clothing temperature and humidity were analyzed, and from the results, the apparent differential threshold of humid sensation to clothing humidity was quantified.
2) From the relationships between brain-wave characteristics vs. stimulus and subjective evaluation, it was found that the brain-wave characteristics obtained from the emotion spectrum analyzer can be used as an objective evaluation method of the sensations.
3) The effects of moisture-absorption processing using silk-protein on the thermal comfort of seat covers were verified using the emotion spectrum analyzer.
4) As a basic research, the thermal properties of the power-stretch knitted fabrics for women's foundation garments and towelling fabrics were examined.
5) From the above-mentioned the results, we concluded that the emotion spectrum analyzer was applicable to the developmental research of clothing material and apparel. Hereafter, we will create the database to establish the better objective evaluation methods.
