Research Abstract |
The present research was intended to establish the early and definite diagnosis of BSE, the food safety control against possible contamination and the infection/risk control and safety management of the possible occurrence of human vCJD. In order to fulfil this purpose, the applicants and their cooperators visited the following Institutes and searched their activities on 2001/4 - 2003/3. 1) United Kingdom ; Edinburgh NCJDSU, London Institute of Neurology, 2) Ireland ; National Disease Surveillance Centre, 3) France ; National Surveillance Committee, Salpetriere Hospital, Bio Rad, 4) Netherlands ; BSE Center, 5) Germany ; University of Muenchen, 6) Italy ; University of Palermo, University of Rome, 7) United States ; National Institute of Health. The results were summarized in this Report and presented in the International Symposium held in The University of Tokyo on November 25^<th>, 2002, which was organize by the applicant. In this Symposium, two distinguished guests from France were invited to present the current status of BSE and vCJD in France.
