Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We put CMS-mini in its latest design in run and simulated access to it by the users in a class with full capacity (40 students + 1 instructor). The run tests showed that the use of Mobile devices to download the contents lowered the average resource utilization compared with the case when access was only possible through the web-interface. Analysis of the traffic and database operations shows that it is possible to host the complete materials of up to 50 courses for 1 instance of CMS-mini offered fro free from Google App Engine. In this study, we successfully implemented Cloud Computing technology in developing a system for response to critical situations affecting the educational system. We designed the new system with capabilities to import the information of the users and the educational materials using standardized formats, and also designed a mobile application to be used in conjunction with the system to allow access via mobile devices in response to the users' needs. We successfully tested the functions of the system (importing contents, distribution of materials, collecting of reports, and tracking users' activities). We reached an estimation of the number of courses, which can be served in one free instance of Cloud Computing platform from Google Apps Engine.
