Outline of Annual Research Achievements

金属材料において、結晶粒微細化は、延性・靭性を損ねずに材料の強度を向上させることのできる優れた組織制御法である。低炭素鋼におけるフェライト相の結晶粒微細化に関しては、様々な手法が提案されてきた。なかでも制御圧延(Controlled Rolling)に代表される加工熱処理法は、実際の鉄鋼の大量生産プロセスにも適用できる優れた方法である。近年、圧延機等の設備の向上などを背景に、鋼の熱間圧延をより低温で行うことが模索されている。これにより、平均粒径1μm以下に至るフェライトの結晶粒超微細化が期待され、鋼板のさらなる高強度化と低温靭性の向上が見込まれる。こうした低温での大加工時には、加工(塑性変形)中にオーステナイト相からフェライト相への相変態が生じる、いわゆる動的フェライト変態(Dynamic Ferrite Transformation)の発現が報告されている。本研究では、低炭素鋼の加工熱処理物理シミュレーションを様々な温度・歪速度条件下で系統的に実施し、加工後急冷された試料の詳細な組織観察と、加工中の変形抵抗の低下(材料の軟化)をもとに、動的フェライト変態の発現を証明した。そして、動的フェライト変態を用いることにより、強度と延性に優れた超微細粒フェライト鋼を得ることに成功した。さらに、J-PARCのBL19(TAKUMI)を用いて、加工熱処理物理シミュレーション中に中性子回折を同時に行い、動的フェライト変態の発現を直接的に証明することに世界で初めて成功した。
